The savanna's geography consists many things like trees, plants, flowers, and much more. The plants can make very big shady spots. The flowers are of course wild and the plants just swing back and forth in the wind. The animal that practically owns the savanna is the lion. Other animals are really the lions prey. The certain types of grass can sometimes grow to be 5-6 feet tall. Some bugs eat the plants. But the point is that the savanna is a really busy biome.- amt095 amt095 Mar 29, 2008

The savanna is a flat area. Its filled with mostly all tall and short grass. There are some hills and slops which go down. The savanna is very dry and turns the grass from green to brown and yellow. It also occurs for some of the trees to since it doesn't really rain that much. Most savannas are different where there grass is all green. Prehistoric inhabitants, adjusting to the encroaching desert, were widely scattered by the third millennium B.C., when the desiccation of the Sahara began. Trans-Saharan trade routes linked the western Sudan with the Mediterranean from the time of Carthage and with the upper Nile from a much earlier date, also establishing an avenue of communication and cultural influence that remained open until the end of the nineteenth century. By these same routes, Islam made its way south into West Africa after the ninth century A.D.external image image%3Fid%3D94366%26rendTypeId%3D4

Grassland Biome are large, rolling terrains of grasses, flowers and herbs. Latitude, soil and local climates for the most part determine what kinds of plants grow in a particular grassland. A grassland is a region where the average annual precipitation is great enough to support grasses, and in some areas a few trees. The precipitation is so erratic that drought and fire prevent large forests from growing. Grasses can survive fires because they grow from the bottom instead of the top. Their stems can grow again after being burned off. The soil of most grasslands is also too thin and dry for trees to survive. By Michael Morales
